I don't have an opinion on this, I usually type very short whispers and the conversation doesn't usually last that long anyway. Usually if I need to have lenghty conversations, we'll both be in the same town either grouped or flooding the general chat.

Not signed. Imagine being in some intense battle only to die because an IM screen popped up in front of your face. Ouch.

The one thing I would like is to have the option to turn off game messages like which guild just won. If I am not trying to get into UW why do I care who wins or has favor. Turn off what items drop or at least the ones that drop for other people. Do I need to know that a avicara scalp dropped for someone else in my team not to mention that it tells me when they pick it up too. When there is a lot of stuff dropping important messages can get lost in the mess. The other has been said before, give us the option to turn off NPC speak.
/not signed chat is fine the way it is.

Why would you die in battle just from getting a PM? You don't die now do you? It would be the same function, just a different location on your screen. Personally I would like to have a seperate window for PM's just to cut down on the confusion and mistells, as well as keeping a seperate log of who i've spoken with recently. I don't like having to shut myself off from the rest of the world just to have a conversation with someone.

See, it's because of these instances that people hire others to read for them... I should get paid for this as well;
Quote:
But, I know some people will think that window is gonna take up space, so when someone PMs you, you can double click on their name or something or type in /IM i don't know and then the window comes up.
|
So, no, it wont interfere with you while you are in mid-battle unless you "double click" on their name. The OP isn't suggesting a change to the Whispering system, just an add-on.
Though... most people who use GW as a chatroom do it so they can see the person they are talking to, and it provides additional interaction. The Window just sets it in stone that you're speaking in a chatroom...

I can't believe you guys say that a window would pop up
maybe this is why things are railed on so much, you guys don't freakin read anything and assume everything.

i like the idea this of having like separate window for private messaging, gw chat is like irc with several channels integrated into one with some filters for trade channel (team, guild chats dont count), and like in all irc chat when u want to chat in private with someone it gives a window where u chat all u want with out interfering with other messages. I know u can uncheck other channels or add some one to your group, but why do i have to do this everytime when i want to chat with some one.
